Saints Following the Path of the Divine Effatà
The Foundation Pio Istituto dei Sordi has enthusiastically embraced the desire expressed by Father Vincenzo Di Blasio to bring to life his long-held vision. They have decided to publish his engaging literary work focusing on saints and deafness.
This publication honors a religious figure who, alongside his Brothers from the Piccola Missione per i Sordomuti, devoted his entire life to serving Deaf individuals.
The Foundation considers it deeply significant to document the productive relationship between numerous saints and people with hearing disabilities. This publication rightfully belongs within the tradition of popular religiosity, which has provided guidance to many Deaf people throughout their lives.
About the Research
Father Vincenzo Di Blasio's extensive research on saints and deafness has yielded an impressive collection: profiles of 61 saints, 19 blessed individuals, 12 venerable persons, 7 servants of God, and 22 "saints" who experienced communication challenges.
Additionally, the work includes 5 saints from the Old Testament, 6 from the New Testament, and Saint Gabriel the Archangel as the communicator. The research is enriched with several informative tables.
Most of these profiles have already been published on social media, on the storiadeisordi.it website, and in the magazine "Apriti!" published by MAS.
Acknowledgments
The President and Board of Directors of the PIO ISTITUTO DEI SORDI in Milan express their sincere gratitude. Father Di Blasio himself offered heartfelt thanks to the Institute, its President, and the Board of Directors for making this publication possible.
